This Program Mahasiswa Mengabdi Desa (PPMD) was implemented as a concrete form of student contribution in addressing urban environmental challenges that directly affect the quality of life of residents, particularly in terms of public safety and comfort. The program concentrated on two key interventions: the optimization of Public Street Lighting (PJU) as a preventive measure against potential nighttime crime, and the innovation of waste bins equipped with a drying system to improve the efficiency and hygiene of household waste management. The applied methodology involved spatial mapping of priority areas, construction of physical infrastructure, and community empowerment through education and technical training. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in residents' sense of security following the enhancement of street lighting, along with a decrease in both the volume and odor of organic waste due to the natural drying system. Overall, this initiative not only provided technical solutions to environmental issues but also promoted social transformation through active community
participation in the maintenance of public facilities.
