Revitalisasi Perpustakaan Sekolah Dasar untuk Lingkungan Belajar yang Aman dan Nyaman

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at SD Negeri 008 Karang Joang, Balikpapan Utara, with the main focus on the School Library Revitalization Program for a Safe and Comfortable Learning Environment. The background of this activity is the condition of the library, which was poorly organized, had limited facilities, and lacked safety equipment, making improvements necessary to support students’ comfort and learning quality. The purpose of the activity was to create a clean, ergonomic, and child-friendly library, while also fostering awareness among the school community about the importance of safety and health in the learning environment. The work program included measuring students’ anthropometry, cleaning and painting the library room, building and installing bookshelves and wall-mounted tables, organizing the book collection, installing a fire extinguisher (APAR) and a first aid kit, as well as conducting a fire extinguisher usage simulation for teachers and students.All activities were carried out in a participatory and collaborative manner with the school. The results of the activity showed the creation of a more comfortable, well-organized reading space that meets ergonomic aspects. In addition, the school now has additional safety facilities that support a secure teaching and learning environment.
