Abstract

The Development of Tanjung Gading Nature Tourism in Balikpapan aims to enhance the local economy and promote the tourism sector. Officially inaugurated in December 2023, the site holds significant potential but faces several challenges, including suboptimal hydroponic management, limited safety signage, and the absence of adequate information boards. Through the Community Service Program (PMMD), several initiatives were carried out, such as the installation of safety signs and regulation boards, the reactivation of hydroponics, and the addition of an automatic nutrient feeder. The hydroponic system was revitalized using a TDS sensor-based nutrient delivery system, which improves crop yields efficiently. Safety signs were also placed across the area to ensure visitor safety. These activities have enhanced the site’s appeal, increased community income, and supported sustainable tourism management. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited resources, differing schedules among group members, and technical issues with the nutrient system affected implementation. The program outcomes include an after-movie video, an article published on the LPPM website, and a SEPAKAT journal publication, all of which contribute to promoting Tanjung Gading as a sustainable tourism destination.
