Community Empowerment in Coastal Areas through the “Let’s Learn” Program and Kombucha Training

Abstract

The coastal area of Seraya Beach in Balikpapan City faces social challenges in the form of limited access to education for children and low economic skills among the community. This social innovation community service program aims to empower coastal communities through two main activities, namely “Ayo, Belajar!” and kombucha making training. The implementation methods include community needs surveys, activity module design, learning program and kombucha training implementation, and activity evaluation. The “Ayo, Belajar!” program focuses on improving children's literacy, numeracy, and environmental awareness through interactive and creative learning. Meanwhile, kombucha training aims to introduce a naturally fermented drink that is beneficial to health and has the potential to become a home business opportunity. The results of the activities showed an increase in children's motivation to learn and community enthusiasm for producing kombucha independently. Through collaboration between the Sparklez team and the community, this program succeeded in increasing educational awareness, economic skills, and the spirit of independence among the coastal communities of Seraya Beach.
