TRANSFORMASI LINGKUNGAN MENUJU KAWASAN INFORMATIF MELALUI PEMETAAN DAN DISEMINASI SPASIAL DI RUKUN TETANGGA (RT) 35 KARANG JOANG

Abstract

Neighborhood Association (RT) 035 in Karang Joang Village is a residential area with great development potential due to its strategic location. However, facilities such as environmental maps containing spatial information on residents’ houses, public facilities, road access, and environmental potentials and risks are not well documented. The absence of spatial data can hinder the development process of RT 035. Participatory mapping is one solution to help realize the development of this strategic area. It not only produces maps but also serves as a means of education, empowerment, and strengthening social bonds among residents, fostering collective awareness of their living environment. The participatory mapping activities in this community service project consisted of three stages. The first stage was the socialization of the participatory mapping program; the second stage involved training on adding location points using Google Maps; and the third stage provided technical guidance for residents who encountered difficulties in adding location points. Based on survey results from questionnaire data, 92% of participants stated that the training was easy to understand, 88% felt that the training was useful for their daily activities, 84% expressed willingness to help update location data, and 8% still experienced difficulties due to limited device capabilities. Overall, the survey results indicate that the community was enthusiastic and felt supported by the participatory mapping initiative and the addition of environmental map facilities in RT 035 Karang Joang.
