This community service program aims to design and realize an outdoor learning space at SDN 009 Balikpapan Utara as part of the school’s transformation toward becoming a Google Reference School Candidate (KSRG), while strengthening the implementation of 21st-century learning that is creative, collaborative, and sustainable. The school faces several challenges, including a growing number of applicants and plans for student expansion that are not accompanied by new classroom construction, as well as the need for innovative learning spaces that support technology-based and collaborative learning activities. The program was implemented through four main stages: (1) site observation and mapping, (2) participatory planning with the school community, (3) collection and reuse of local and recycled materials, and (4) fabrication of furniture from reused materials to support the outdoor learning area. The program resulted in the design of a multifunctional outdoor learning space located in the school’s second zone, which can be used as a learning area, a guest reception space, and a social interaction zone. The use of recycled furniture such as tables, chairs, and tires demonstrated cost efficiency while promoting the principles of sustainable design and environmental education. Through this activity, the school community developed greater awareness of the importance of collaboration, creativity, and environmental responsibility as the foundation of innovative learning within a green, digitally oriented school environment.
