PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH TANDAN KOSONG KELAPA SAWIT UNTUK PEMBUATAN MEDIA TANAM JAMUR TIRAM DI DESA SUKOMULYO
Abstract
Sukomulyo, located in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, is one of the areas where most of the community relies on the plantation sector, particularly oil palm cultivation. This activity generates oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB), which have not been optimally utilized to date. On the other hand, Pleurotus ostreatus farming groups in Sukomulyo still face high production costs due to their dependence on purchasing growing media (baglogs) from outside the village, as well as the scarcity of the main raw material, sawdust. This community service program aims to provide an alternative solution through the utilization of EFB as raw material for Pleurotus ostreatus growing media. The implementation method consisted of three stages, namely surveys to identify problems, experimental production of EFB-based growing media with pre-treatment, and socialization to farmer groups and the Women Farmers Group (KWT). The trial results showed that the quality of EFB-based baglogs was not significantly different from that of sawdust-based media. Furthermore, the socialization activities increased community understanding and interest in utilizing EFB as an alternative medium that is more economical, easy to apply, and environmentally friendly. Thus, the utilization of EFB has the potential to support the sustainability of Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation while reducing environmental problems caused by oil palm plantation waste.
