DIGITALIZATION OF TOURISM INFORMATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS EDUCATION AS AN EFFORT TO DEVELOP MANGGAR BEACH

Abstract

Pantai Manggar Segarasari is one of the leading tourist destinations in Balikpapan City, endowed with significant natural potential. However, the management and dissemination of tourism information in this area are still conducted manually, remain unintegrated, and have not optimally utilized digital technology. This community service program was carried out to address two main issues: improving access and promotion of tourism information through digital media, and fostering environmental awareness among local communities and visitors. The implementation method employed a participatory and collaborative approach involving the Pantai Manggar UPTD and local residents through several stages: problem observation, design of a tourism information website, production of digital promotional content, and the organization of an environmental education talk show. The outcomes of the program include the establishment of an official Pantai Manggar website, the installation of directional signage at key locations, the publication of promotional videos on social media, and increased environmental awareness through the talk show activities. Questionnaire-based evaluations indicated significant benefits for environmental awareness, tourism promotion, and sustainable community participation. This program has had a tangible impact on tourism promotion, environmental awareness, and the strengthening of technology-based and community-driven tourism management.
