Abstract

The community service program conducted at KUPS Sari Naga, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, focused on two main initiatives: the rebranding of dragon fruit jam products and the utilization of dragon fruit waste into organic fertilizer. Both programs stemmed from issues faced by the local community, namely the low competitiveness of local products and the accumulation of agricultural waste that had not been optimally managed. The implementation methods included observation, interviews, SWOT analysis, packaging redesign, nutritional information labeling, and compost-making practice using aerobic fermentation with EM4 bioactivator. The results showed that the rebranding successfully enhanced the attractiveness of the dragon fruit jam through new packaging and transparent nutritional labeling, thereby strengthening the MSME’s brand image. Meanwhile, the utilization of dragon fruit waste produced high-quality organic compost with a crumbly texture, neutral pH, and no unpleasant odor, while also increasing community awareness of environmental management. Integratively, both programs contributed to community empowerment by strengthening the economic capacity of MSMEs and promoting sustainable agricultural waste management.
