PELATIHAN PEMBUATAN KOMPOS ANAEROB DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN KOMPOSTER SEDERHANA DI RT. 26 KELURAHAN KARANG JOANG BALIKPAPAN

Abstract

1. 26 Karang Joang Village in Balikpapan City is a densely populated residential area. The majority of its residents are housewives, farmers, and MSME entrepreneurs. One of the most pressing issues is the high volume of organic household waste, such as vegetable scraps, fruit peels, and dry leaves, that is not managed optimally. To address this issue, residents need a practical, educational solution that they can implement to create a primary household waste management system. In this training activity, the team of lecturers and students presented an anaerobic compost fermenter as a solution. This simple tool accelerates the fermentation process of organic waste into compost. An evaluation using questionnaires before and after the activity showed a significant increase in community understanding. The average score increased by 19.05 points, from 80.95 in the pre-test to 100 in the post-test. This activity improved residents' skills in processing organic waste, confirming the effectiveness of the direct demonstration method and participatory approach used in the training.
