The IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE OF REGULAR MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE IN THEGRAHA INDAH VILLAGE, NORTH BALIKPAPAN
Abstract
Motor vehicles used by the community must always undergo regular maintenance and repairs in order to extend their service life. One easy and effective way to do this is by performing servicing and oil changes independently. Therefore, the Student Automotive Association (SAA) at Instiut Teknologi Kalimantan provided light vehicle maintenance training to the community of Kelurahan Graha Indah, Balikpapan Utara. Given the existing issues, one solution to improve human resource quality through skill training is by providing automotive-related training, particularly for motorcycles. This approach involves conducting basic vehicle understanding workshops to spark public interest. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed an average score increase of 8.8%. From these test results, the community has a good understanding of general vehicle concepts, while their knowledge of technical skills related to motor vehicles is still low. After the training series is completed, it is hoped that the community of Kelurahan Graha Indah, Balikpapan Utara, will have the knowledge to perform maintenance independently and encourage the community to engage in entrepreneurship.
