PENGEMBANGAN WISATA EDUKASI DALAM MENDUKUNG PEREKONOMIAN BERKELANJUTAN
Abstract
Educational Tourism is one of the aspects that can support a sustainable economy. The concept of a sustainable economy emphasizes a balance between economic growth, environmental preservation, and social welfare in rural communities. The community of Margomulyo Village, RT. 20, has become one of the pilot villages for educational tourism in honey bee farming, initiated by the Balikpapan City Tourism Office. However, during its implementation, the villagers faced several challenges, such as limited facilities and low literacy in managing honey bee farming. This is evidenced by the distribution of questionnaires to the residents of RT. 20 Margomulyo Village, which revealed that 20% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the facilities provided and the community’s ability to manage honey bee farming. This Community Service activity aims to develop educational tourism in honey bee farming by providing facilities and conducting socialization on honey bee farming to support a sustainable economy. The activity was carried out using a participatory method involving all members of the Margomulyo Village RT. 20 community and organizers in achieving the goals through implementation, learning, and evaluation. This Community Service activity resulted in the application of theory into the practical development of tourism that supports the sustainable economy of the Margomulyo Village community. The level of community satisfaction from this activity increased by 90% and is highly expected to be continued annually.
