Abstract

Community service activities carried out at the Bekantan Tourism Village in North Balikpapan have had a positive impact on the development of this educational tourism area. The main program implemented was the creation of a simple interactive instrument in the form of a digital button-based green-red light system as an educational tool and a new attraction for visitors. This innovation aims to introduce simple technology to the community and provide a fun interactive experience, while increasing visitors' knowledge about the endemic Kalimantan animal, the proboscis monkey. In addition, the group also created an information board containing a complete explanation of the proboscis monkey, from its characteristics, diet, and gender differences, so that visitors can gain broader insights. The results of the questionnaire showed an increase in public understanding and interest after the introduction of this interactive tool. Visitors found the design of the tool and information board attractive and useful in providing education. This innovation also solves the initial problem of a lack of technology and educational facilities at the previously unknown tourist location. With this instrument, the Bekantan Tourism Village now has added value that can attract more tourists, increase community participation, and strengthen the image of a technology-based educational tourism destination. This program is implemented through the production of documentary videos, publication of scientific articles, and participation in expos, ensuring its continued and sustainable benefits. This is expected to stimulate local economic growth and make the Bekantan Tourism Village an increasingly popular destination for the wider community.
