Abstract

Primary education plays an important role in shaping the character and intellectual abilities of students from an early age. However, many primary schools still face challenges in creating an educational and enjoyable learning atmosphere. One of them is SDN 015 Balikpapan, located in Karang Joang, where the school has significant potential for developing a learning environment, but its utilization has not yet been optimal. The main issues identified are the lack of attractive environmental design and the limited availability of educational information media to support learning, particularly environmental-based learning. To address these issues, the development of an educational garden equipped with plant information boards is proposed as an interactive learning medium. The implementation methods include field observation, needs assessment, garden design, creation of plant information boards, and outreach to the school community. The results show an increase in student interest in environmental-based learning and the potential for improving English language skills through bilingual information media. The novelty of this program lies in the integration of environmental education with foreign language literacy enhancement through a thematic educational garden. This innovation is expected to improve educational quality and foster a more active and enjoyable learning culture.
