OPTIMIZATION OF LIGHTING AND TOURISM FACILITIES THROUGH THE UTILIZATION OF PLTS IN THE WONOREJO RESERVOIR, BALIKPAPAN CITY
Abstract
The Wonorejo Reservoir area in RT 31, Balikpapan, holds significant tourism potential but lacks adequate lighting facilities, creating safety concerns for both visitors and local residents, especially at night. To address this issue, the team Program Mahasiswa Mengabdi Desa (PMMD) from ITK initiated the construction of a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) as an environmentally friendly lighting solution independent of conventional electricity. This community service project was conducted through participatory methods involving residents throughout the planning and implementation stages. Additional supporting infrastructure, such as speed bumps for traffic safety and neighborhood maps for visitor navigation, were also developed. The results indicate improved safety, comfort, and public interest in renewable energy use. This program is expected to serve as a model for sustainable tourism development through student-community collaboration.
